Back to the living!!

Hey everyone! Sorry we've been gone for so long. My Dear sweet father in law went to be with our Lord & Savior May 29th. He passed peacefully in his sleep. The lord did show mercy as he was in no pain throughout the 7 weeks he was sick. Thank you all for your prayers and concern. It was greatly appreciated.

Now..to update you on whats been going on in our lives. The kitties daddy is home for good now. He is no longer working. He worked for AT & T for 34 yrs. Kitties love having their daddy home everyday now.

Me..I  rescued 6 kittens a couple of weeks ago. Some of them were feral so that has been a challenge to say the least. They are slowly coming around to me and Chuck. One of the kitten's has only 3 feet and is the runt of the bunch...he or she still is very scared of us. We named it Tripod. Three of the kittens are ready for homes now. I put an ad on Craigslist and Im going to put ad in the Birmingham News too. I screen all callers and make sure my kittens go to good forever homes. Tomorrow I will post pics of the kittens so you can see how cute they are..especially Tripod!

Good to be back!!

So sorry about your father-in-law....loss is just so hard.

Yeah for retirement though!! Mom hopes to get there someday... haha

Feral kittens are interesting - it can be so fun to see the transformation. Food is great - the kittens we just got decided mom was all that pretty quick after they realized she is the bringer of gooshy fud. Also, mom read on Alley Cat Allies that an older neutered male cat can help with socialization (presuming the older male cat is ok with helping).

It's good to see you back. We wish you peace, at least a bit, re: the passing of your father-in-law.

Nicki was found at 8 to 10 weeks as a feral kitten and is the silliest purr bug ever. A former co-worker of mine has fostered feral kittens too, and she would lie on the floor, her hand smeared in yummy canned food. Took patience, but actually didn't take that long--Jeanne is right, food is a great tool. :-)

Purrs for them all to be healthy and happy, and of course spayed/neutered!

P.S. You might notice Blogger's new word verification, which is utterly lousy, so we would suggest turning it off, but also not allowing anonymous comments, if you're worried about spam. Just a thought!

Sorry to hear about your FIL's passing, but there is something to be said about the way he went.

And retiring! wow, that is also another huge life changer. But being Stay at Home Cat Dad isn't a bad gig to have :)

Food is a huge motivator, and I've tried the food on the hand thing with my current set that came to me all hissy and spitty.. and Agatha got so interested in the food she bit my finger and made it bleed.. I ended up using Spirit Essences for feral kitties on them and now they are just a little TOO friendly :)

So sorry for yours and your husband's loss. If you have to go that was the way to do it!!! It is the way I would like to go.
Happy is doing great!! The old girl has arthritis so badly now she is getting a shot every month and that is helping her feel a lot better. She is 20 to 22 years old and that is really the only thing wrong with her. She still is a very happy cat.
I am starting to loss the sight in my good eye so my days on the computer are probably numbered!! I have already cut out going to your blogs. I post and you comment and I reply right there on my blog it is way less reading that way. I miss all my friends tho so much!!
